Student Membership
We provide Membership to all of our clubs, including student to student cover for students and instructors. (contact us for pricing)       
 (we are not an insurance broker and all cover is purchased through our current provider)

Instructors and Assistants Cover and Criteria
We provide PI (Professional Indemnity) cover for Club Instructors, or Club Cover which covers Instructors as well as any unpaid assistant instructors that teach on behalf of the Club Instructor, for one complete cost effective solution.
  • Our Assistant Instructors are chosen and developed by their clubs senior instructor, not put through a training course or examined by our organisation.
  • We accept grade's and qualifications provided by Instructors or Senior Instructors, as well as their Assistant Instructors. Clubs can register their instructors with us each year in the same way as they renew students membership (assistant instructors cover is included in the registration and no additional membership is necessary).
  • We run workshops each year where registered instructors can get together to share teaching styles and share new developed techniques, we gain more from this activity than other groups do from coaching courses.
  • We provide everything needed to keep our instructors up to date and compliant with the law.





GDPR
What we do with your personal details when you join us.
When applying for membership to one of our registered clubs, you will be asked to provide some personal information, your name and address, contact details and in some situations, medical information.
Any information we keep, either electronic or hard copies are kept securely until they change and new information is submitted, if you choose to leave, your information will be deleted and any paper copies destroyed or returned to you. we will cancel membership 12 months after membership has expired and delete all information held for an individual 1 month after.






Safeguarding
All martial arts clubs teaching children must, by law,  have a safeguarding policy in place as well as a set of procedures to keep children and adults safe.
Our safeguarding services are free to all registered clubs and we provide free training to our instructors as part of our commitment to our clubs.
Safeguarding is fast becoming a major part of running a club and having a system in place for our clubs is as important as good insurance cover, Clubs that do not provide an adequate safeguarding service are leaving their club, Instructors and students open to legal action, as well as having a disregard for the safety of everyone involved with their club.  

There are many benefits to having a safeguarding service in place, all BJJKO registered club instructors have free unlimited access to:
  • An external Lead Safeguarding Officer as a first point of contact for internal CWO's (Club Welfare Officers)
  • Safeguarding Training for Instructors, Courses are available via our e-learning service as well as regular workshops.
  • Help with Disclosures and escalation to a child welfare officer should one of our clubs encounter an incident or complaint.
  • Access to media, policies, procedures and BJJKO report forms.
  • Enrolment packs for new students (essential in helping protect clubs against fraudulent complaints that may lead to legal action).
  • A mediation service for complaints and other issues.
  • Mediation for accusations of racism, sexism or dealing with any other issue where  instructors cannot legally become involved.
  • Support with general safeguarding issues, procedures, completing forms and vetting instructors.
  • Transparency: By law, any club teaching children must have a safeguarding provision in place, this includes written Policies and Procedures, our team help members prove compliance with safeguarding and child welfare law.
  • Copies of our safeguarding policies, procedures and forms, for our members, available to view and download.
  • Access to our safeguarding and instructor workshops. 
In short, a complete Safeguarding service for peace of mind, don’t consider running a club without this provision in place. 
  • We work with club instructors to help them become compliant with safeguarding/child welfare law.
  • We assist with the process of appointing a CWO (Club Welfare Officer) as an internal point of contact for students, parents/carers, visitors and other instructors, and to act as a contact for our Lead Safeguarding Officer, who will deal with any issues they may encounter. 
  • We offer support and mediation and provide forms and induction packs (part of the legal requirement for any club that teaches children).  

Interested in joining the BJJKO?
We hope that clubs interested in become part of the BJJKO, like what we stand for and what we can offer, as well as sharing our beliefs and ethic.

We believe in trusting instructors to run their own clubs the way they see fit as long as they comply with the law and have the following in place:
  • Membership with us for their students.
  • PI Cover for all Senior Instructors.
  • Registration for all instructors and assistants teaching at their clubs (this is very cost effective and covers safeguarding obligations).
  • DBS registration for all instructors (we can apply on behalf of club instructors or this can be sourced independently).
  • First Aid qualified instructors, at least one instructor within each club must hold a current qualification, we run regular First Aid in Martial Arts Courses each year if required.
  • Compliance with our safeguarding policies and procedures and take part in at least one of our safeguarding workshops and courses per year.

Help will always be available to clubs where needed, we can be involved as much or as little as required.
We are able to provide everything needed to run a successful and professional club.
